New England Chapter No. 8 NAWCCSpecial ActivitiesSpecial Meetings Annual Willard House & Clock Museum Workshop. The registration fee for this popular event includes morning refreshments, three horological presentations, a catered box lunch, and access to the museum’s excellent collection of Willard Clocks. We invite three speakers noted for their knowledge, experience, and their ability to give informative and interesting talks. Even if the attendees do not perform movement and / or case restorations, there is a benefit to them by gaining a better understanding of what makes up a clock. Bi-annual Fall Educational Symposium. This one-day event has for its focus the bringing together of knowledgeable individuals who measurably advance the educational aspects of horology. Three or four presenters are invited, and the chapter tries to have the symposium at a location commensurate with the theme of education, that is, in a museum. This nearly day-long event consists of catered continental breakfast, welcome & introduction, one or two presenters, coffee break, one or two more presenters, catered lunch, a post-luncheon presenter, and closing comments. Field Suitcase Program Joe Seremeth, Chapter 8 1st Vice President and Area Director of the Field Suitcase Program, has announced that a second F101 class will be held April 16-19, 2010, in North Grafton, MA. The class, "Introduction to Basic Time and Strike," is for beginners and is the one required course for admission to all other courses. The purpose of the local workshops is to provide technical repair and restoration training for those members who want to receive this instruction at a location other than at the School of Horology in Columbia. Public Projects Bob Boyd has donated a clock to The Peterborough Players (Peterborough, NH) auction for the last four years and clock repairs for several previous years. The Players has put on summer plays for the last 76 years. The chapter adopted the Alexander Tarbell Willard “blue” tallcase clock at the American Clock & Watch Museum.
